Last week, reports in the Saudi Arabian media suggested that ACWA Power and Solwie Energy had entered into partnership discussions. Now, industry whispers suggest that the strategic rapprochement between Saudi energy giant ACWA Power and Turkey-based Solwie Energy may not be limited to Turkey alone. According to sources, the two companies are reportedly considering collaboration on large-scale renewable energy projects in Romania.
Insiders close to the energy sector state that Solwie Energy, under the leadership of CEO Samet Koç, is currently seeking international financing and technical expertise for a high-capacity solar energy project under development in Romania. Meanwhile, ACWA Power is said to be preparing its strategic entry into the Eastern European market.
Although no official statements have been made by either party, the recently established close relationship following ACWA Power’s $2 billion investment initiative in Turkey has further fueled speculation about a potential joint venture in Romania.
While Solwie Energy has not commented on the claims, Samet Koç has previously emphasized the company’s ambition to become a key player in Europe’s renewable energy sector — making such strategic collaborations highly plausible.
Experts suggest that if realized, this partnership could significantly contribute not only to Romania’s energy supply balance but also to broader regional energy stability across Eastern Europe.
